Ingredients of Lau Dalma (Odia Lauki Dal)

  • 1 Cup moong dal
  • 1/2 cup potato cubes
  • 1/2 cup lauki cubes
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 dry red chilli
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • Salt, as per taste
  • to taste Sugar
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp grated coconut
  • 1 tsp coriander leaves, chopped

How to Make Lau Dalma (Odia Lauki Dal)

Dry roast moong dal in a pan, on low flame, until it turns golden brown in colour.

Wash the dal well and set it to boil with turmeric and salt.

When the dal gets boiled, add the vegetables and boil until the potatoes turn soft.

Switch off the flame and keep aside.

Now, heat ghee in a kadhai and add cumin seeds, red chilli and grated ginger to it.

Saute until the raw aroma of ginger eliminates.
7.
Add dal and sabzi in the kadhai and give it a boil for not more than a minute.
8.
Adjust salt and sugar.
9.
Garnish with roasted cumin powder, grated coconut and coriander leaves and serve hot.
